With gas prices fast over taking the $4.00 mark it is time for our government at all levels to get off their butts and begin to lead.
Federal Government
1. Discontinue all corporate welfare to the oil companies and redirect those funds to modernizing our public transportation systems.
2. Do not pass wind fall profit tax. This tax will be passed on to the customer.
3. Reduce federal gas tax.
4. Launch Energy-bonds to pay for this effort.
5. Mandate telecommuting and a four day work week and provide tax breaks
6. Launch a “Going to the moon” like project to eliminate our reliance on foreign oil within 5 years. This needs to be a joint government and corporate venture.
7. Mandate that all oil produced in the U.S. will be sold within the U.S. for the next 5 years. With surplus being sold to our allies
8. Allow oil companies to build/modernize refineries.
9. Mandate the development and use of nuclear power for domestic use.
10. Discontinue the use of ethanol based on food plants.
State Government
1. Work with the federal government to prioritize modernizing our public transportation systems.
2. Reduce state gas tax.
3. Launch Energy-bonds to pay for state level projects
4. Mandate telecommuting and a four day work week and provide tax breaks.
5. Support drilling and the building of new refineries.
Local Government
1. Launch Energy-bonds to pay for local level projects
2. Monitor service stations for price gouging
